My 96 GSX build Empty My 96 GSX build

This is my 96 Eclipse GSX build in progress. Please enjoy and feel free to comment and ask questions.

Machine work on block. The first picture was taken after 0.005" was removed from the deck. You can see where the deck was sunken down around the cylinders on the exhaust side. This is very common for all turbocharged 4-cylinder cast iron blocks. It's always on the exhaust side and it's caused by high cylinder/combustion temperatures. This is a perfect example of why you have to resurface the block to use an MLS style head gasket. The other picture is after two more passes, which was 0.0085" total removed. He ran the feed speed down as slow as he could to get a mirror finish on the block.

The piston to cylinder clearance is 0.004" He still needs to take final measurements, do a little more cleanup and then it's a final hot wash before primer and paint.

It may be considered lazy but I have horrible internet over here in Afghanistan. So I'm just putting a link to my blog on another site. It has the complete history of my car since I owned it and some pictures. ENJOY!!

Fun fact on my build. Ill be running an EVO9 oil filter housing. This is a bolt on downward facing setup with factory ports for an oil cooler and oil pressure sensor. ONLY FOR 7BOLT
