Bluebird, the DD and WW
Alright, gunna start my build thread for Bluebird, my 1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. I am starting from where PO left off, not much was on the car when I got it performance wise, but I have a feeling that there may have been more than what I had at one time. Anywhere where I started at was basically stock. But it did have a small 16g and a mbc from ebay on it. Then it had an aircan/maf hack. Laslty was a 3" exhaust w/ an N1 muffler. I want this to be a good street daily driver and then do a hell of alot of damage at the track!! I have little Phases I want to do things in to get stuff done. For me it groups things that are similar together that I can upgrade all at once.
Phase #1: Fuel
I needed this cause with the mbc in place and turning it up essentially led me to fuel cut, or possibly lots of timing pull due to knock, either way, i needed to get more fuel and a way to monitor whats going on. I also plan to run e85 as well.
1250'cc injectors
Walbro 255
AFPR
Rewire Kit
ECMlink V3
Phase #2: Airflow
Now that I have the fuel part taken care of to run more boost, I have to have a way to cool that boost down to make it more effective and more free flowing. Also decided I want to run SD and elimnate the MAF altogether.
PR FMIC set up
ECMlink SD cable and sensors
new intake tube
Phase #3: Exhaust
Since my exhaust was pretty free flowing from the start I decided to save this for last, but it still needs some upgrades.
Open dumb tubular o2 housing
upgrade manifold (tubular or e3, undecided atm)
Exhaust cutout, 3" - coming out front bumper, or behind front wheel well maybe.
Phase #4: Any extras
Here is where I have any stuff that I don't "need" persay but want, and could possibly come anywhere in the build if I strike a good deal.
Cams (264/272 combo or straight 272's, undecided)
Bigger turbo
Meth Injection
may build a stroker/destroker
Head work (valve jobs, prorting)
New springs and retainers
Suspensino wise:
I may go coilovers, I may just switch to stock struts and lowing springs. As of now, I am on ebay conversions, which is stock (blown) strts w/ a little sleeve and some coilover sprigns.
For now that is all, I will add some starting off pictures:

Phase #1: COMPLETE!
I ended up going a little off path for this one, I had some items I wanted to buy, but ended up finding some stuff that a guy was selling that was all brand new, some a little overkill, but I paid barely anymore than I would have for just what I was going to get. So here is the list of stuff I got:
Dual wally 255's in tank
Dual hangar
Ready for a rewire
-8 line all the way up and around (besides return)
Aeromotive Filter and AFPR
FP gauge
Magnus Fuel Rail
All the misc fittings for everything
Then from a vendor I bought:
1250's
ECMlink v3
Got everything installed and done a while back, and since then been playing with link. Here is some pics from the process:
You can view the rest of the pics here:
http://www.supermotors.net/registry/22578/75322
I also have done some little mods here and there I will update here in a bit and put some pics up.
Next phase (which should come soon) is phase #2: Airflow. Along with that, I will also be getting better boost gauge and a WBo2 gauge and sensor. Than along with that I will be doing a dual fuel tune, one for e85 and one for pump, using the tune switch mod for 1g's via ecm link.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Here is some things that came up in between phases and little visual upgrades.
First I got an Evo 3 turbo that I swapped in:
Here is a lil thing I thought was kinda cool:
also cleaned up the firewall a bit of things not needed:
Thats all for now.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Just now saw your shift knob. Mazda 3? I have exact same shift knob hanging on my wall in my garage and its from a 04 Mazda 3 that was suppose to be mine till it got wrecked. Favorite car I've ever driven next to the RX7 FD. Period.
Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Not sure actually. It was on there when I got it. It could be though, cause I know it isn't a cheapo autozone one cause this one actually threads on.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
So the water pump decides to go out on Wednesday. So now I get to do water pump and timing belt, maybe throw in a couple upgrades. Not sure what or how many though. I am thinking just the SD cable and sensors and an intake pipe. Oh well, I will be getting a Gates water pump, Gates Timing and Balance Belt, new tensioners. May throw in a EGR blockoff, some plugs and wires, head studs, and a FIAV block off. We will see how much money I get away with spending on this "repair" stuff before it redflags the gf!! lol

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Thanks, just got done today with the TB and got a new VC since I decided to go postal on it and punch a hole in it. I am painting it tomorrow. I will take new pics of the updates tomorrow, or maybe I will wait for my new wires. I relocated my coil too.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
So it is almost done!! Along with the FMIC install I did an ABS delete, A/C delete, dropped down the battery, port the turbo, tap the turbo for a boost source, install the SD sensors and cable. I also set up my dual tunes and got airflow in line. Today I also scored a 3" downpipe for $100!!! Hellz ya. I also have a 3" high flow cat and flanges so I can get this thing to pass emissions. Pics to come tomorrow!

Man, look at the delay!! Well phase 2 is all done!!! It is officially tuned on e85 and SD. running 26lbs all the way through the power band!! Just to give you an idea how sweet this shit is. 26 till 7k, NLTS with 12 lbs of boost in between shifts, then back on to 26 lbs all in less than half a second.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Just to update. A HG decided to go. Great right? Well since it was just a headgasket I bought the stuff for it to change it, took the head off and boom! I found cyl #1 was a bit lower than cyl #4. Guess what? bent rod... So I began to inspect other things as well. and found my head and block both need work, the head more so than the block, but none the less I still have to sink money into it. So the next stage is not in the plan, but still it is going to happen.
I plan to get both the head and block through SIM. They have killer prices going on right now on head and built blocks. So I am getting a 2.3 stroker block from them, all Manley forged internals, ACL Race bearings and BSE. Then for the head, it will be a Stage 1, with new springs/retainers, OEM size valves, 3g lifters, stg 1 port job, and there inhouse 275 cams. Along with that stuff I will be doing an alternator relocate as well.

Damn man, your 1g is really coming along! Sucks about the head gasket tho, thats why I started my full engine rebuild. You're going with a 3 layer right?

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Not sure what HG it is going to be atm, SIM will be deciding what will be best once they start, so it will depend what it needs as far as thickness. ANd thanks. I am jsut strapped for money so things are happening slowly....Once I get this stuff in though it should be going together fast. I will aslo be adding a stage 4 clutch package from S&R performance as well as 2 more evo gauges. The package comes with a stage 4 6 puck clutch, PP, Lightened flywheel, ss braided clutch line, shifter bushings, TOB, Carrier bearing, 3 things of Redline fluid, and i think that is all. Then a oil psi gauge and a coolant temp gauge in the flavor of prosport evo!

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
With everything you're doing, I highly recommend the 3 layer hg. And you might as well get arp head studs too. It will save you alot of headache in the long run. Btw are you doin all the work yourself?

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Already got studs. And I think that is what they got picks out for me as far as headgasket. And they will be building the motor and head, but I'm stuffing it in myself. And may have to assemble the rotation assembly into the block, depending on how they ship it, cause over 150 lbs costs alot, so if they keep each piece of gongs sent to under 150 and send more than one box it's cheaper.

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
True that. I had to go out and buy an engine crane and stand, but it only cost about $350 from harbor freight. Who's building it for you?

Re: Bluebird, the DD and WW
Thats not a bad deal. I am borrowing the stand and crane from a couple buddys so that saves me some money. And I got the guys at Strictly Import Motorsports gunna be building it. That way it takes a load off me so I dont have to worry about measuring and fixing ring end gap, and balancing, and all the other stuff. and it saves me time, I just want to be able to throw the head on bolt up the accessories and drop that baby in so I can start drivign again!
